History of the Liposuction Procedure

Over the last few years liposuction has grown in popularity and has become one of the most commonly performed cosmetic procedures in the US. In 1974, the original form of liposuction was invented by a gynecologist from Italy named Dr. Giorgio Fischer. In 1978 two more French physicians Fournier and Illouz continued the development of the procedure. By the early 80s liposuction had become very popular in the US but had a lot of negative publicity because of some negative results such as excessive bleeding and unsightly rippling of the skin following the procedure.
