There are several injectible skin treatment options which can help reduce facial lines, wrinkles and skin folds and help reveal and restore a radiant youthful look. The advantage to using injectibles is that they are minimally invasive, non-surgical procedures which will not require downtime in most cases. Dermal fillers are procedures which can help create much younger looking skin. Some of the most popular injectible skin treatments used by New Jersey cosmetic surgeons include Botox, Radiesse, Juvederm, Restylane and Perlane. These can each be used individually or they may be combined in a customized treatment plan which can yield very dramatic results.

Botox

Botox is an injectible filler which works just below the surface of the skin and has the effect of relaxing muscles. Botox works by relaxing muscles which are responsible for the movements which create wrinkles. It can help reduce the appearance of crow’s feet, scowl lines and other wrinkles in the facial area. Botox is a very fast procedure and works well when used in combination with cosmetic fillers.

Radiesse

Radiesse is an injectible filler which works very rapidly to help smooth out wrinkles or correct the lines of the face. It works just below the surface of the skin and creates new scaffolding which offers support to the skin and helps it look fuller. Radiesse adds volume to the skin and also stimulates the skin to make it create new collagen. Radiesse is typically used in the nasolabial folds; these are the lines that run from the edge of the mouth up to the nose. It is different than the other skin fillers as it will last much longer than the other treatment options. This type of treatment is fast and simple and many opt to have it done on their lunch hour. There can be some minimal tenderness or swelling for a few days.

Juvederm

Another effective injectible filler used by cosmetic surgeons is Juvederm. Heredity, lifestyles and sun exposure can cause the body to lose skin volume. Juvederm is a gel which is injected into the skin in order to help plump up the face, reduce deeper wrinkles and create a fuller, youthful appearance. Depending on the specific area being treated, a Juvederm treatment can last up to one year. The substance is made out of hyaluronic acid which is a complex sugar. There are different formulas of Juvederm which are designed in order to treat specific problems. For instance, for superficial or slight wrinkles, a light solution can be used; but a moderate formula can be used to treat the typical wrinkles or folds that appear in the smile, brow or forehead. Juvederm is also very effective at helping to fill out the lips and make them fuller. The densest formula is used when the deepest wrinkles need filled in or if it is being used to add volume to the lips or cheeks.

Restylane and Perlane

These two products are dermal fillers which are injected into the skin with a very fine needle. This gel can add volume and lift areas which will help reduce fine lines in the face. They are totally safe and they are made out of an all natural substance. Hyaluronic acid is lost from the body through the aging process, injections help to replenish its supply in the body so that the lips are plumper or skin is raised. It is commonly used to “fill in” wrinkled areas. Restylane is one of the most popular injectable fillers as it restores the face’s volume and works to smooth out wrinkles and folds. It is usually used around the nose or the corners of the mouth. But it can also be effective in treating the cheeks by restoring volume or it may help contour the chin.
